My Wi-Fi is weak in the basement. Will it work?

The sensors need a 2.4 GHz signal in the laundry room. If your phone gets Wi-Fi there, LaundrySense usually will too. A mesh point or extender helps if it doesn’t.

Does it work in a shared apartment laundry room?

If the laundry room is on your Wi-Fi network and you’re allowed to attach a small magnetic sensor to the machine, yes.
